Cleaning your payment terminal

Often a great step in troubleshooting issues!

Updated over a week ago

Cleaning your payment terminal can be a great troubleshooting step! Over time, dust and dirt can accumulate in crucial areas, potentially affecting performance. Here’s how to keep your terminal in top shape :)

My machine won't charge (dock charging):

To clean the charging connectors, use a dry, soft-bristle brush or a lint-free cloth to gently remove any dirt or debris. Avoid using liquids to prevent damage to the connectors. Additionally, ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the wall socket and the charging dock. Charge the terminal for at least 30-60 minutes and check if the charging indicator activates.

If this does not resolve the issue try the following:

  • If you have an additional yetipay terminal - see if that charges on the dock in question (if not then the dock may be faulty)

  • If you do not have an additional terminal - try hard resetting the device. To understand how to do this you can ask our chat bot for a step by step!

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the device may be faulty. Contact yetipay customer support to report the issue and arrange for a replacement.

  • Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to the wall and dock. Inspect for any damages to the cord or dock.

  • After charging, press and hold the Power button for at least 3 seconds to attempt turning the device on.

My machine won't accept chip/swipe payments:

If your device is accepting contactless/tap payments but not swipe or chip payments it may indicate that the card reader is dirty or faulty. To clean the reader you can:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the card reader slot of the POS machine OR,

  • If you don't have isopropyl alcohol, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the card reader slot, avoiding any moisture.

If you continue to experience issues after cleaning, please reach out for further assistance. We’re here to help!
