Cleaning your payment terminal

Often a great step in troubleshooting issues!

Updated over 4 months ago

Cleaning your payment terminal can be a great troubleshooting step! Over time, dust and dirt can accumulate in crucial areas, potentially affecting performance. Here’s how to keep your terminal in top shape :)

My machine won't charge (dock charging):

To clean the charging connectors, use a dry, soft-bristle brush or a lint-free cloth to gently remove any dirt or debris. Avoid using liquids to prevent damage to the connectors.

If this does not resolve the issue try the following:

  • If you have an additional Yetipay terminal - see if that charges on the dock in question (if not then the dock may be faulty)

  • If you do not have an additional terminal - try hard resetting the device. To understand how to do this you can ask our chat bot for a step by step!

My machine won't accept chip/swipe payments:

If your device is accepting contactless/tap payments but not swipe or chip payments it may indicate that the card reader is dirty or faulty. To clean the reader you can:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the card reader slot of the POS machine OR,

  • If you don't have isopropyl alcohol, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the card reader slot, avoiding any moisture.

If you continue to experience issues after cleaning, please reach out for further assistance. We’re here to help!
